The Columbia St. Mary's Family Medicine Residency is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

Columbia St. Mary's hospital was the only Wisconsin hospital ranked in Solucient's 2006 Top 100 for "demonstrated superior clinical and operational performance." It was "Top 100" for performance improvement leadership.

Nationally recognized faculty members include Greg Brotzman, MD, innovator in colposcopy; John Seidl, MD, pioneer in non-scalpel vasectomy; and Dennis Butler, PhD, expert in post-traumatic stress disorder and stress management. James Sanders, MD, is an international expert in treating victims of torture. He was recently awarded the President's Award by the United States Government for his work in the Republic of Georgia. Robert Lyon, MD, and Annette Gagnon, Clinic Manager, have showcased our practice management and QI processes to national audiences. Ed Minter, MBA, Program Manager has shared his expertise in business administration at numerous conferences.

Our affiliation with the Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Family and Community Medicine, known for advancing Family Medicine, affords you all the resources of a large tertiary academic medical center.


Four of our faculty members have been honored by Best Doctors, Inc. and are included in the 2007 Best Doctors® in America database. They are Greg Brotzman, MD; William Geiger, MD; Suzanne Gehl, MD; John Seidl, MD.

The new database includes more physicians from the Medical College than from any other group practice or institution in Wisconsin.
