| 1848 | St. John’s Infirmary – Milwaukee’s first hospital – is established by the Sisters of Charity during a cholera epidemic. "…open to all citizens or strangers without distinction." |
| 1858 | St. John’s Infirmary becomes St. Mary’s Hospital at Northpoint. |
| 1859 | St. Mary’s Hospital commits to the underserved: "…to afford relief and suitable care to all classes and denominations regardless of country or color, to all condition of sufferers, mental as well as physical." |
| 2001 | St. Mary’s Milwaukee and Ozaukee Hospitals merge with Columbia Hospital to become Columbia St. Mary’s Health System. |
| 2005 | Columbia St. Mary’s breaks ground for new unified 670,000-square foot "hospital of the future," featuring evidence-based design, a 40,000 square foot Cancer Center, Women’s and Specialty Hospital, state-of-the-art surgical and procedure settings, two medical office buildings and three parking structures, as well as a three-story atrium and public concourse with superb views of Lake Michigan. |
